University of Violence
The University of Violence began as an idea. Chief Instructor Donavin Britt has always searched for answers to the complexities of real violence. While there are many Martial Arts and Self Defense schools there were no true University style environments that specifically focused on the many aspects of violence. So the University of Violence: Teaching good people how to do bad things to bad people was born.
Violence has many sides. The physical, mental, and emotional impact of violence has both short term and long lasting effects. Most Self Defense or Martial Arts schools teach only the physical aspects of violence. In other words they focus on various techniques and training methodologies that reinforce the systems predetermined response to any given attack. The problem with focusing on only the physical portion of violence is that it does not take into account the mental and emotional impact that each individual endures during a violent attack. Furthermore, training on the physical only without acknowledging the impact of emotions such as fear or the impact that stress has on the body from a scientific aspect is incomplete.
The University of Violence has a curriculum that is unlike any other school in the world. Violence itself is discussed at every level. From the physical to the Psychological, a true understanding is cultivated. Each student will learn how to survive from pre-violence, during violence and post violence. Not only will the student be given the physical skill that increases their chance for survival. The students are taught how to articulate their actions to the authorities. Each student will understand the importance of each decision they make pre-attack, during and post violence. This is more than a simple self-defense course. The University of Violence strives to make each student a PHD in self-defense!
There are certain realities that each of us must understand in order to survive a violent attack. There is a specific type of training that must be performed in a specific sequence in order to maximize the ability of the student. Chief Instructor Donavin Britt uses a blend of physical, scientific, mental, emotional and psychological components in each lesson. The goal is to build the students understanding of the attack in order to properly counter and survive.
Mentally each student will be pushed beyond their limits. Fear of the unknown disappears when the students overall skill and understanding through rigorous training and developing a highly trained and highly effective response system not simply a reaction based system.
